What does a VPN actually do?
It encrypts the traffic between your device and our servers, so the network you are using — café Wi-Fi, a hotel, your broadband provider — cannot read it, and the sites you visit see our server's address rather than yours.
What doesn't a VPN protect me from?
Plenty, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. It does not stop you handing your password to a convincing fake login page, it does not remove malware, and it does not make you anonymous to a service you have logged into. That is exactly why Veystrix Guard and the free tools exist alongside it.
How many devices can I use?
Up to 10 at the same time on OpenVPN, which is the protocol to use if you want the phone, laptop, tablet and TV all connected together. On WireGuard it is one device at a time: your account has a single key and a single tunnel address, so connecting a second device on WireGuard drops the first. Most people mix the two — WireGuard on the device they care most about the speed of, OpenVPN on the rest. It is the same subscription either way and costs nothing extra. One subscription is for one person, though, not for sharing around.
Can I cancel online?
Yes — from your account page, in a couple of clicks. No phone call, no chat queue, no offers you have to decline three times.
Which protocol should I use?
WireGuard unless you have a reason not to — it is the fastest and the app is the official one. Use OpenVPN when you want several devices connected at once, or when a hotel, office or campus network blocks WireGuard (WireGuard only speaks UDP; OpenVPN speaks TCP and gets through). Use VLESS only in countries that filter internet traffic, such as China, Iran or Russia — it is slower and needs a different app, but it does not look like a VPN, which is the point. You switch protocol in your account whenever you like.
Will it slow my connection down?
Encryption and distance always cost something. On a nearby location the difference is usually small; connecting to the other side of the world costs more. You can switch locations whenever you like.
Can I use it while travelling?
Yes, and it is one of the better reasons to have one — hotel and airport networks are shared with strangers. Check local rules before you travel: a few countries restrict VPN use.
Is Veystrix Guard always right?
No. It is an assistant, not an oracle. It tells you which signals it found and what they usually mean, so you can make a better decision — and it will never tell you something is "safe", only that it found no high-risk indicators in the checks it ran.
