Android TV, Fire TV and games consoles
Some of these run the app. The rest need the router, and we will say which.

Television devices split cleanly into ones that can run the app and ones that cannot. Here is which is which, without pretending the second group is easier than it is.
Can run WireGuard directly
Android TV — Sony, Philips, TCL, Nvidia Shield and most modern Android-based sets. WireGuard is in the Play Store on the device.
Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Cube — WireGuard is in the Amazon Appstore on newer models. On older ones it is not, and sideloading is the only route.
Cannot, at all
- Samsung Tizen and LG webOS televisions. No VPN apps exist for either. Anyone selling you one is
selling a DNS service, not a VPN.
- PlayStation and Xbox. No VPN support of any kind.
- Nintendo Switch. Same.
- Apple TV — some support arrived in recent tvOS versions but coverage is patchy and WireGuard
is not straightforwardly available. Treat it as the router case.

Android TV and Fire TV, step by step
1. On a computer or phone, sign in at your account and download a configuration. 2. Get the file onto the TV device. Easiest routes: Send Files to TV (free, on both stores), or a USB stick, or a cloud drive app. 3. Install WireGuard from the Play Store or Amazon Appstore on the device. 4. Open WireGuard, choose Import from file, and find the config. 5. Toggle it on and accept the VPN permission prompt.
A remote control makes this tedious. Both platforms have a phone app that acts as a remote with a keyboard, and it will save you a lot of irritation.
Check it worked
Open a browser on the device — Fire TV has Silk, Android TV usually has one available — and go to veystrix.net/tools/ip.
If there is no browser, check from another device on the same network only if you tunnelled at the router. An app on the TV only covers the TV.
The honest bit about streaming
Streaming services actively block VPN addresses, it is an arms race with a short cycle, and it breaks without warning. We will not promise it works and we do not put streaming logos on our homepage. The full reasoning is in VPNs and streaming.
If the only reason you want this is a specific service, we would rather you knew that before you set it all up.
If it does not work
WireGuard is not in the store. Your device is too old for the official app. Router, or sideload at your own risk.
Import cannot see the file. Move it to the device's internal Download folder rather than a USB stick, then browse from inside WireGuard.
It connects but apps say no internet. Restart the TV device. Android TV in particular often needs one restart after the first VPN permission is granted.
