Set up Veystrix on Windows
About four minutes, on Windows 10 or 11.
Sign in to download your configuration file, or see plans.
Before you start: sign in at your account, choose a location and download your configuration file.
1. Install WireGuard
Download it from wireguard.com/install and run the installer. It is the official build from the WireGuard project.
Type the address yourself rather than searching for it. Searching for VPN software is a reliable way to find a sponsored result that is not the real thing.
2. Import your configuration
1. Open WireGuard. 2. Click the arrow beside Add Tunnel at the bottom left, then Import tunnel(s) from file. 3. Select the .conf file from your Downloads folder.
3. Connect
Click Activate. The status changes to Active and you will see data moving.
Windows may ask for administrator permission the first time. That is expected — a VPN changes network configuration.
4. Check it worked
Open veystrix.net/tools/ip. It should show our network and your chosen country.
Turn on the kill switch
In WireGuard, select your tunnel, click Edit, and tick Block untunneled traffic (kill-switch).
With it on, nothing leaves the machine if the tunnel drops. Without it, Windows quietly falls back to your ordinary connection and says nothing.
Starting automatically
WireGuard can reconnect on boot. Right-click the tunnel in the list and there is an option to activate on start, or use the tray icon settings. Worth it on a laptop that moves between networks.
If it does not work
"Unable to configure network adapter." Run WireGuard as administrator once, then it will work normally afterwards.
It activates then deactivates. Another VPN client is installed, or your antivirus is blocking the adapter. Uninstall the other VPN, or add WireGuard to your antivirus exclusions.
Nothing loads once connected. Almost always a DNS conflict with another security tool. Deactivate, disable the other tool, and try again.
On a work laptop it will not install. Company machines usually block this deliberately. Do not try to work around it — speak to your IT team.
One thing worth knowing
The .conf file holds your private key. Anyone with it can use your VPN account. Delete it from Downloads once imported; WireGuard keeps its own encrypted copy.
